Driveway grading in Fallbrook costs $150 per hour with a 4-hour minimum, operator and fuel included. Regrading a 300-foot dirt driveway and crowning it for drainage is a four-hour job; spreading two loads of road base adds two hours. A quarter mile of private road with ditches runs 6 to 10 hours. Material is quoted separately.
Fallbrook, De Luz, Rainbow, Bonsall and Valley Center run on private dirt and gravel roads. Every winter storm cuts ruts into them, every summer turns them to washboard, and every year someone's driveway becomes the neighborhood creek. Grading fixes that: we cut the high spots, fill the ruts and potholes, crown the center so water runs to the edges, and open the ditches that carry it away.
A graded dirt road holds up for a season. A graded road with 3 to 4 inches of compacted road base holds up for years. We spread and grade the base you order, or arrange the delivery, and track-roll it so it locks together. For a new driveway we cut the route, build the crown and base from scratch, and set a culvert where the road crosses a wash.
Shared private roads are a frequent call. Several neighbors split the bill, we grade the whole run in one day, and each household pays less than a single pothole repair would cost a year later.

Driveway Grading in Fallbrook and North County
The roads up De Luz, along Rainbow Valley Boulevard, off Lilac Road in Valley Center and through the Bonsall groves are mostly private and mostly dirt. The ground is decomposed granite, which grades beautifully when damp and dusts away when dry, so timing matters: we like to grade just after a rain or with a water truck ahead of us in summer.
Steep grove roads need water bars, shallow diagonal ditches cut across the road every 50 to 100 feet that kick runoff to the side before it builds up speed. They are the difference between a road that lasts the winter and one that becomes a gully by February. We cut them as part of every grading job on a slope.
